What You Will Do
We are looking for a highly versatile Staff Accountant with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions of the organization and within the accounting team. We're looking for someone with general accounting knowledge with a process oriented mindset. This person should be able to follow company procedures and comply with GAAP accounting. This person will be fully remote and report directly to the Accounting Controller.
Responsibilities:
General Ledger and Systems
- Support accounting activities including Quote to Cash and Procure to Pay; includes preparation and posting of journal entries, entering bank transactions, balance sheet account reconciliations, and other general accounting duties.
- Employee Expense management.
- Participate in formalized month-end close procedures including prepaid expenses, accruals, deferred revenue, allocations, and reconciliations to ensure accurate and timely completion.
- Support the maintenance of fixed asset sub-ledger, including monthly depreciation.
- Help to ensure all business transactions are reasonable, appropriate, and necessary.
Technical Accounting and Compliance
- Assist with the federal, state and local tax filing process including 1099 reporting and NEXUS review.
- Assist with the annual external financial audit and other required financial audits, including preparation of audit schedules, and gathering of supporting documentation.
- Support the accounting team in developing and maintaining policies, including internal controls.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- 1-3 years in a Staff Accountant role.
- Must have recent experience with ERP in handling accounting transactions.
- Experience participating in the month end close process.
- Must have worked in a fully remote environment for at least 1 consecutive year in the past 3 years.
- Experience supporting AP/AR function and tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, proactively, and respectfully in a remote-first environment through verbal and written channels, including Slack, Zoom, and email.
- Understanding of GAAP accounting principles.
- Experience with an ERP in handling accounting transactions.
- Proficient in Excel with maintaining schedules and reconciliations.
- Ability to efficiently and effectively organize and navigate electronic file systems.
- Ability to efficiently prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a remote environment.
- Ability to complete tasks and meet deadlines while in a remote team environment.
- Must be able to travel to our Texas warehouse location for the first two days of employment to participate in new hire onboarding (company-paid travel provided).
- Occasional travel is required based on business needs, including company meetings, conferences, customer events, and professional development opportunities.
- Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.

- While sipping on a warm beverage, start going through bank transactions, entering them into ERP system as needed and preparing bank reconciliations
- Reach out to your AP/AR Special teammate to communicate on how you can assist with transactions
- Check your Slack for any communications and respond accordingly with appropriate information
- Take a brief walk in the sunshine to find a bench to sit on and eat your sandwich lunch
- Collaborate with your team on month end close tasks
- Pull up the ERP system, and check records. Take action on bringing records up to date
- Reach out to team to see if they need any support on other tasks
- Close to dinner time! Connect with team to communicate any questions or updates you may have (you are encouraged to do this throughout the day)

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $72,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, and certifications.
