This is a full-time remote position, with occasional foreign and domestic travel to meet with the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers, artists, and educators to see products from initial concept to production.
  • Translate product requirements into electrical specifications and PCB layouts, confirming design choices through prototyping, simulation, and cross-functional design reviews.
  • Understand and articulate technical risk and include margin throughout the design process.
  • Work directly with manufacturers to ensure high-quality production.
  • Learn about new technologies and incorporate them into your designs.
  • Play with robots!
  • Travel occasionally within the US and to Asia to meet with the team.

Requirements:

  • You have experience designing schematics and PCB layouts with microcontrollers, sensors, and other digital/analog peripherals.
  • You are familiar with analog and digital technologies (for example, ADC, PWM, UART).  You can tell us how they work and when to use them.
  • You have experience reading electrical schematics and datasheets to guide and debug your designs.
  • You can solder and rework boards, including small 0402 scale surface mount components (equipment will be provided).
  • You are comfortable using lab equipment in your own space for testing (for example, oscilloscopes, multimeters, batteries, and power supplies).
  • You can communicate clearly and effectively with a small, fully-remote team.
  • You must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.
  • You must be able to obtain a visa to work in China.
